Recap: Our kickoff meeting was a great success! It was standing room only, with about 35 attendees. Paul Gazzillo, the treasurer of MACS, won Techie Pictionary, closely followed by the ACM officers Dan and Max. We are pleased to announce that Julia Grunewald accepted the position of Undergrad Chair. Thanks to everyone who attended, and thanks to the officers for their help.

5) WinC Mentoring Hours
Come to WinC's Mentoring Hours to talk to WinC officers and peers about school, work, or just to take a breather. Mentoring Hours are manned (or womanned) by WinC officers and are designed to provide support for "fellow" women in the department.

4) Tech Outreach Event: New York City Girls Computer Science and Engineering Colloquium 2009
Following the success of last year's outreach event, WinC will again host a day-long program of speakers, presentations, and demos for NYC-area high school girls interested in technology and engineering (9th and 10th grades). We will partner with sister clubs from Princeton and Columbia to reach out to high school girls and encourage them to study the sciences. This event is funded By the Google Rise award and NYU's Courant!

5) Corporate Technology Panel
Hear technology professionals from various business sectors talk about how technology is used in their company, the issues that they currently face, and what is in store for the future. Participants include Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Blackrock, and Deloitte Consulting. Resumes will be collected (please bring one copy per company).

The first half of the panel discussion will consist of a moderator-led Q&A, and the second half will be an open Q&A with the audience. A reception with refreshments will follow outside room 109. This event is organized by WinC, MACS, and ACM.

Wednesday, November 12, 2008 - Come to hear students and faculty talk about their experiences at the recent Grace Hopper Conference last month. We will also discuss how different forms of technology, i.e. clips on YouTube, have played a role in this past election. We will be watching some YouTube clips, so if you have one in mind bring the URL to the meeting! As always food will be served, and all genders welcome.

Wednesday, October 8, 2008 - Pizza, Game, Goldman Sachs
For the first half of the meeting, we will have pizza and play Outburst, a fast and funny group game. During the second half, Kate Bolotnaya, an alumna of NYU's CS department who currently works at Goldman, will speak about technology at the company and also talk about her experience working there. Kate will be joined by a recruiter from Goldman who works with NYU, and both will answer questions you may have. Dress is CASUAL. Resumes will be collected, so feel free to bring yours. If you can't attend the meeting but would like to submit your resume, please slip a hard copy under WinC's office door (Courant 419). You may want to put it in an envelope so that we don't accidentally step on it with our woManolos (haha).
